The author shows how complex problems can be decomposed and solved using just a few simple lines of code, and hopefully to inspire up and coming researchers. The topics covered are guided by the real problems observed over many years as a practitioner of both robotics and computer vision. It is written in a light but informative style, it is easy to read  and absorb, and includes a lot of Matlab examples and figures. Great book!

This is a great book for those who want to practice robotic concepts in MATLAB! The (free) robotics toolbox is a great tool to work with manipulators, and the book has several examples with real robots (like the famous PUMA). It also has some useful tools for mobile robots, but it only deals with the car-like and the quadrotor models. It misses the widely applied unicycle model, although it is ease to adapt the toolbox to work with the unicycle as well.
I didn't have time to get to the machine vision part, but the final part of the book unites robotics and machine vision, dealing with visual control for robots.
I think it is a very nice book for everybody that works with robotics!

Great for robotics algorithm fundamentals and programming implementation.

A published robotics researcher myself, I find this is one of the most useful books I've come across. It excels in detailing both algorithm fundamentals and their actual implementations. The accompanying MATLAB toolbox is thorough, readable, and efficient.

A Splendid introduction to help your little ones grasp the meaning of middle class angst

It is the perennial question for most modern parents and that is when do I induct little Chlamydia, Jocasta or Harrison into the constantly rewarding world of modern art. Well help is at hand in this small but mighty tome. Replete with helpful pictures that not only capture the essence of works of ‘no meaning’ but also act as a visual reference to what you should encounter in any self respecting and, one would hope, ‘self loathing’ modern art gallery.

This is the first in a series of what I am sure will be invaluable educational aids for the socially upwardly mobile amongst us. Your child needs to know and more importantly appreciate the utter void of talent that represents true art. It is pointless and that is the point. At once confusing and yet totally understandable. But for the untrained eye and developing brain of little Thermopylae , Shakira or Bronson this may need to be addressed in a more sensitive way and this gem of a manual will be your god send in this quest.

My only quibble is that it is only 44 information packed pages and I managed to finish it over a period of several weeks as my injuries from being over critical at a Damian Hirst preview mean that I find it difficult to turn pages. I am moist with anticipation of the follow up and also think it’s about time this foundation considered a reissue if their exceptionally helpful 1938 publication ‘Why we burn books’ an early learning guide to fascism – my copy ironically got burnt during an impromptu police raid during an unconventional power cut – such is life, such is art and such is marvellous literature.

Don't think twice about getting this cookbook!

Ok, I bought this for my married daughter. Thanks to this book, cheesecakes have become her "trademark." She kept telling me about all the amazing cheesecakes she was making from here, and the accolades from whoever she makes it for. I was drooling, long distance.

I finally decided to buy myself one! What a fantastic cookbook! I just made the Lemon Curd Swirl Cheesecake for Easter, and everyone was raving over it. The crust is made out of Lemon Oreos, and is good as the cheesecake itself! My husband used to think he didn't like cheesecakes, but he is changing his mind big time!!!

I made the Cranberry Orange Cheesecake for Christmas - out of this world. The perfect sweet-tart combo.

Made the Milk Chocolate Cheesecake for company a couple months ago - they couldn't stop raving about it.

The appetizer cheesecakes are phenomenal, too.

Cheesecakes, I have decided, is the ultimate "make ahead" desert. Try baking a pie the "day before" - good luck. Cheesecakes actually MUST be made ahead, which is perfect for me.

George Geary is TOP NOTCH. He has been a visiting chef at the cooking school in my hometown, and he is fabulous.

I just bought one more copy, as a wedding shower present, along with a PUSH PAN, which i now prefer (and George Geary also prefers) over the spring form. They never leak, and never require any foil, etc.

The only cheesecake cookbook you'll ever need...

I own at least three cheesecake cookbooks but this my favorite. The recipe instructions are clear and easy to follow even for those who are new to baking. Although not every recipe has a photo, the illustrations are stunning and you'll get a good idea of the finished products.
The book starts off with a great introduction that includes basic techniques and equipment, common ingredients and FAQ. Next are 200 recipes divided into twelve categories like Fresh Fruit, No-Bake and Savory Cheesecakes (you should never need another cheesecake recipe). Each recipe is accompanied by tips and variations as well as the author's valuable insights. Another plus for me is the baking technique does not require a waterbath which is tricky for a novice and can result in a soggy crust.
After searching everywhere online(including eBay) Amazon had the best price and you can even add a Fat Daddio cheesecake pan to your purchase to make sure you qualify for free shipping.

If you love cheesecakes...

If you enjoy baking cheesecakes then you will enjoy this book! I have tried the following recipes and they turned out great: tiramisu, banana split, mango, and pineapple!
Easy to follow recipe and it even has an introduction on how to properly bake the cheesecakes.
note: the book doesn't mention baking in a waterbath but I do to prevent cracking.

Scenes showcasing the relationships among the various Spellmans are often laugh-out-loud funny. (The novel's prologue is an amusing example of the boundaries--or lack thereof--between Izzy and her mom and dad). Alas, bit after comic bit does not a mystery novel make, and only toward the end does Lutz pick up the narrative pace. Addicted to Get Smart reruns and forever attracted to the wrong kind of men, Izzy Spellman is definitely an appealing heroine; all this series needs to become a smashing success is a more generous dose of story and suspense. Hilarious, entertaining read and winning characters

Spellman Files is a hilarious, entertaining read with snarky characters, cinematic chase scenes (with a familial twist) and spot-on dialogue. But it's really the clever, disarming voice of 28-year-old P.I. Izzy Spellman that wins you over. A strong dose family dynamics kicks this novel into a higher gear than your typical romantic comedy or suspense novel. Izzy is a private eye in a Royal Tanenbaum-esque family of private eyes who don't know boundaries when it comes to privacy or the invasion of it. One of the early scenes says it all: Izzy, sensing she's being followed in a parking garage, gets in her car and screeches out of the garage. A dizzying car chase through the steep streets of San Francisco follows and, after Izzy can't shake her tail, she stops the car, gets out, walks over to the car chasing her and, as the window rolls down, says, "Mom. Dad. This has to stop." The Spellman Files continues in that vein, with action-packed scenes followed by a comedic punch at just the right moment. You'll be laughing out loud every few pages.

Odd book....I liked it!

Others have given a synopsis of the book, so I won't. I'm not great at expressing myself or giving a review. I have quite an eclectic taste in books. Often it depends upon my mood as to what I feel like reading. I love the Mitford Series by Jan Karon and I also love the Stephanie Plum series and others by Janet Evanovich and sometimes I like (not love) trashy romance novels and sometimes I like very deep and thought provoking books. Lately some of my favorite authors have been Jan Karon, Janet Evanovich, Sue Grafton, Lisa Scottoline, J.A. Jance and Lisa Gardner. I like to read series from beginning to end and have read all of these author's books that have been written so far (except Scottoline, I'm currently in that series) and most of them I've read in the last 4 months. I read Lisa Lutz's book, The Spellman Files, while awaiting the arrival of my next in the Scottoline series today. I actually don't read very fast, but read this book in one day. It was one of the strangest books that I've ever read and I've been reading for more years than I'd care to say! I actually liked it very much. I wouldn't say that I absolutely loved it, but I liked it enough that it is a "keeper" and I would read it again sometime. Often books don't keep my attention and I totally drift off, but this one kept me reading. I am also anxious to read the next book, The Curse of the Spellman's which is out, but I'm too cheap to buy hardbacks, so I will wait or buy it used. It was funny and quirky and strangely loving.

Lost 25 pounds in 15 years

This book changed my life. I dieted (aspiring dancer and all that) from age 12 to age 28, when I stumbled upon this book. From age 12 to 28 I gained 30 pounds (105 to 135). After reading the first few pages of the book when I was 28 (1988) I had a revelation. And I stopped dieting. I am now 43. I weigh 110. It is hard to learn to accept yourself and refocus your life. You must drop the priority "if only I was thin." It's not that important. When I read the book I could not believe the part about the woman only eating part of a chocolate mousse. Believe me its true. Dieting damages your natural system of satiety. It takes about ten years to heal. When you are healed (and you will be if you stop dieting) you do not know if there is chocolate in the house. You can eat it. Or not. You can even eat a lot of it. I'll eat a big bar when I want. When you are healed and your satiety is fixed there will be times when you just don't want any. I've had chocolate go grey because it was forgotten. You owe it to yourself to heal. Life is much better. The important rule I retained is *only eat delicious food*. Now can't you live with that?
Remember: The 1200 to 1800 calorie diets that women go on correspond to the figures of starvation published by the World Health Association. Symptoms are: inability to concentrate and a general slowing down of the body (to save energy). And we expect starving people in the west to be productive?! Dieting is a barbarous practise similar to bloodletting for fever.

Stop dieting. Join the world. The ten years you need to heal will pass anyway.

You can live a diet free life!

If you are ready to free yourself from the enslavement of calorie or
fat counting or excessive exercise - this is the book for you!
"Diets Don't Work" explains in simple language why diets
fail to help people achieve their weight loss goals. It includes
written exercises to help you crystalize your desires and reasons you
are overweight. By helping you delve into your inner self and by
teaching you the skills that naturally thin people naturally do, this
book can put you on the road to losing your excess weight and keeping
it off without dieting! The book covers topics such as how naturally
people stay thin, four things overweight people never do when they
eat, the main reason why you eat to much, the diet mentality and more!
This book is in its 14th printing and is the revised updated version
of the original "Diets Don't Work" book. It was printed in
1996. Another book by the author "Diets Still Don't Work"
was published in 1990 after the release of the original "Diets
Don't Work" book. The books cover essentially the same
information with only a few variations, so you really need purchase
only one or the other. I recommend this book if you are tired of the
diet roller coaster and want to live a naturally thin diet free life!

Free At Last Free At Last, Thank God...

I started my first diet when I was just old enough to say diet. I continued riding the diet roller coaster for the next 25 years of my frustrated life. My frustration and all my life's woes can easily be traced back to my issues with my weight. Everything became about weight, diets and eating. I could tell anyone the calorie content of anything. I thought that was a gift. It really was a curse. I know this now. I saw diets don't work in the book store years ago and thought YES that is SO ... TRUE!!! I believed in the philosophy of the anti diet for a very short time but did not, could not, and would not allow myself to trust myself, so at first it did not work for me. Now, about 4 years later I picked up this book again, and decided to read it over one more time. One thing I knew for certain was that diets had failed me again and again and again making my life totally miserable. I felt if I could just succeed in making myself thin than I could master anything, but I could not lick this problem. It lingered on and on. I also knew that I noticed thin people everywhere eating pizza, ice cream and cookies all around me, whereas my chubby compatriates were suffering silently with their rice cakes. I thought something's rotten in Denmark. How is it possible that thin people seemingly eat whatever they want and don't gain weight? Then it finally clicked once and for all. DIETS DONT WORK!!! Tell your friends. Tell the world. Diets cause overeating, obesity, depression, self hatred, failure, food obsession............This book and others like it that I have read have literally saved me. I have only been following this for 1 week. It's true. It may sound nuts that I am so convinced after a week, but I am sold. In just a few days I have not deprived myself of anything, and remarkably the things I thought I wanted so much like "a whole cake" or an entire pizza were not actually things I wanted. I found myself reaching for a banana! A Banana! Can you believe? I had thought vegetables and fruit were some kind of punishment, but when you're not eating them to diet or lose weight you find yourself actually wanting to have them. It is so unbelievable. One week and I am completely sold. Thank you Bob Schwartz. YOu are a life saver. Now when I hear people talking about atkins, the zone, weight watchers,.....I just laugh. I don't bother telling them what I have learned, because I think it takes a lifetime of dieting before you can possibly give up on diets all together. They'de just never believe me is all. I am so glad to have my life and sanity back.

As a college freshman I memorized The Snow Goose and won a campus speech contest and cash award. I was eager to have the unedited full length story, since my "coach" furnished me only a carbon-ribbon typed copy. The full story plus additional Paul Gallico stories is a treasure! The large bonus is that this edition includes Gallico's accounts of his world travels and explains why he found that memorable real life experiences were the best stimulus for him to fictionalize some of his own experiences and to set them in environments he recalled in memory.
